Job Title: Receptionist - Office Assistant


Duration: 10+ months.


Detailed Job Description:


Position Description:


 The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Planning and Development Department which provides building permits, planning services, permit inspections, drainage inspections, fire damage and compliance inspections, certificates of occupancy, and customer service.


 The purpose of the Permit Inspection Activity is to provide development inspections for builders so they can complete construction in compliance with approved development codes.



Skills Required:


 Greets customers at the reception desk and directs to correct lobby station for service


 Answers multi-line phone for the Planning and Development Department


 Directs customers to appropriate divisions regarding departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations


 Enters data into permitting database and saves records per Department retention policy


 Files permit records


 Communicates with the public and other departments/divisions/personnel by phone and in writing


 Operates a computer in a Windows environment and uses department specific software while navigating between multiple screens


 Performs administrative/office support functions as necessary such as copying and filing


 Participates in special projects as assigned by supervisor



Experience Required:


 One year of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience



Education Required:


 High School Diploma or GED certificate
