About Interpreter/Translator Cultural Specialist (09L Soldier) in the U.S. Army
09L is a leadership opportunity for bi-cultural Iranian-Americans, who speak Farsi, to join the U.S. Army. As an Iranian-American who understands the culture of both the U.S. and Iran - and areas in the region influenced by Iran such as Herat province in Afghanistan - you will use the Army as your opportunity to lead and teach the Army troops how to communicate respectfully and honorably with Afghans. Similarly, your lingual understandings allow you to become the bridge between Afghan local communities and the U.S. Army, eliminating confusion and enhancing the rebuilding efforts of the region. Together, your voice and the training and support you gain from the United States Army can be the strength to empower you to lead and influence U.S. troops and local Afghans.
The U.S. Army is an opportunity for a career that is highly respected and reliable. The U.S. Army has and will use all resources available to train and empower you to become a leader. It is an opportunity for you to show your support to both America and Afghanistan, where people share your race, cultural similarities and language. This is your opportunity to become a successful leader in the rebuilding efforts in the Afghan region. The ability to understand both Iranian and American language is truly unique and the implications of this role as a Soldier in the U.S. Army has the potential to save innocent lives and launch many more opportunities in your future.
